1. Who we are
RentalToolPicker (rentaltoolpicker.com) is operated by RentalToolPicker ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected]. For GDPR purposes, we are the controller of the personal data described here.
2. What we collect
- Cloudflare Web Analytics. Our host collects aggregate, cookieless page-view metrics (such as pages viewed, referrer, browser type and country) without placing cookies or building visitor profiles.
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4). With your consent, or where consent is not legally required, GA4 sets cookies to measure visits and how the site is used, including clicks on buttons and vendor links and progress through the quiz. We use Google Consent Mode v2: for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage are off by default until you click Accept. When storage is denied, Google may receive cookieless pings without identifiers, which it uses for aggregate modeling.
- Quiz answers. Your answers (unit count, main need, budget and similar) are processed in your browser to produce a recommendation. We send which step you reached, your answer choices and the recommended tools to GA4 as events. We do not ask for your name or address in the quiz.
- Email address. We don't currently collect email addresses. This section will be updated if we add a newsletter.
3. Cookies and your choices
We store your consent choice in your browser's local storage under the key rtp_consent ("granted" or "denied"). If you accept, GA4 may set cookies such as _ga and _ga_* (typically kept for up to 2 years). Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies.
You can change your choice at any time: You can also clear site data in your browser or use Google's GA opt-out add-on.
4. Affiliate links and how we make money
RentalToolPicker is free to use and supported by affiliate commissions. Some links to software vendors are affiliate links. If you sign up through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. When you click one, the vendor (or its affiliate network) may set its own cookies to attribute the referral. That is governed by the vendor's privacy policy. Commissions never change which tool we recommend, and we list free options when they fit best. See How we pick.
5. Third parties
- Google LLC – Google Analytics 4 (privacy policy; how Google uses data from sites).
- Cloudflare, Inc. – hosting, security and cookieless analytics (privacy policy).
- Software vendors we link to – TurboTenant, RentRedi, Baselane, Stessa, REI Hub and others, once you leave our site.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries. Google and Cloudflare rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers.
6. Your rights
EEA/UK (GDPR / UK GDPR): you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing. Our lawful bases are consent (analytics cookies) and legitimate interests (cookieless, aggregate site metrics and security). You may complain to your local supervisory authority (UK: the ICO).
California (CCPA/CPRA): you may request to know, delete, or correct personal information, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not knowingly sell personal information. You can opt out of analytics and advertising cookies with the Decline button or the reset button above. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals: if your browser sends one, analytics and advertising storage are set to denied automatically. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

7. Data retention
- GA4 event data: kept for 14 months.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics: aggregate only, kept per Cloudflare's policy.
- Consent choice: in your browser until you clear it.
8. Children
This site is for adult landlords and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, show a notice on the site.
